Mike’d Up: Debating Jordan Addison’s Intentions, if Pitt Should Take Him Back if Possible

Published

on

Why did Jordan Addison really enter the transfer portal? Could he actually still return to Pitt? Should the Panthers take him back if he would want to return? On this debate filled edition of Mike’d Up, Mike Asti and Mike Vukovcan go back and forth on how we got here and what the resolution will end up being. They also discuss what this means for college football overall and how much this may impact the Pitt program in the future.

No way! Let him move on. Time for the NFL to start a minor league and the NCAA return to student athletes . Time to stop the insanity!!!

Love the conversation this morning. Like you said, IF this is the reason, and not all about the money, we don’t want him. TO destroyed the Eagles. We don’t need all the other players seeing Pitt cater to him. I thought it was very strange last year when Narduzzi was giving him a lot more attention than he should have. I’m referring to his mother’s input on not letting him play. Watch the tape. I don’t think he does this to all the players on the team. If a doctor clears a player (especially in today’s world) they are ready… Read more »

TO did NOT destroy the Eagles. McNabb did.

Bias much? He likely was ready for a bigger pond having accomplished all he could at Pitt. New experiences, neither you nor Pitt owns Jason. Stop blabbering like you do.

You don’t say no to talent like that. I’ve always been a huge fan of Duzz’s “if you have 1 foot out the door, you have 2 feet out the door” approach, but times are a changin.

Most likely he was anticipating the offense transitioning to a run game oriented offense. I hope he realizes that a good run game opens up some deep pass opportunities. No doubt I would welcome him back. He is the best receiver in college football.

You are the first Person who identified this other than all of the Scrutiny over $ alone. You can say what you want about the QB pairing. I think he sees how terrible Cignetti is and would rather go play at USC with better Offensive style to the Pass game.

Great observation!

How terrible Cignetti is? We scored 32 ppg (21st in the country) and had a 10 win season under his guidance in 2009. Our QB was Bill Stull…

No way you take him back at this point. Doing so would encourage future guys to test the portal waters. If Pitt shows they will take you back, you lose nothing by testing the portal. If the offers aren’t good enough, no worries, Pitt is your fallback. Pitt should send a clear message…if you decide to enter the portal, we wish you well, but once you do, we’re not going to be your fall back.

Maybe he saw what life might be like with KP gone. He’s worried The QB’s are lacking what KP had.
JMO, I for one would Definitely take him back and let the locker room work out that other stuff. Kids are young and make mistakes as long as he chooses pretty damn fast to come back. the longer it lingers the worse off it will be,,,, in the locker room

This is great for PittsburghSportsNow’s business. I disagree with the second window after spring practice. That proposal is essentially no change from the current. If a player waits until after spring practice he has screwed other players that could have gotten his reps. After spring ball, make the player sit a year for being indecisive. Get your NIL deal ahead of time and then let the team that remains develop. All that needed to be known in this situation was known in January once Cignetti was hired. and he’s not coming back so just move on.

Addison should get in touch with Antonio Brown. He is fitting the DIVA wide receiver description to a tee. Steelers will never even look at drafting him. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Qe want volunteers not hostages.🤑😡

I can’t see him coming back to Pitt. If he can go to ALA, or to USC for an awesome NIL deal, he should go. I’d love to have him stay but he needs to do what is best for him. WE may not agree with him but that is irrelevant. Also, he performed exceptionally at Pitt and gave us great memories. Focus on that as a fan and move on.

Vukovcan is spot on with Pitt not wanting him back. Addison is a great player, but his ethics are terrible. The optics on this situation show Addison’s true colors and that this is nothing more than a cash-grab.

Pitt’s offense looks more balanced than in the past and will be fine with out that Prima Donna.

Good video and conversation.

,First, let’s realize we have no idea what these two radio personalities’ true beliefs are on this subject In their, job one has to take the yea position and the other the con position to generate controversy. So I will provide my opinion. ,, Addison unlike Pickett is liked by his teammates. He earned his accolades by hard work, rather than have the coaches design an offense and constantly praise him to the press. If Pitt had put Izzy and Carter in the backfield and threw 10 or fewer times a game Pitt would have been undefeated last year and… Read more »

If Kenny Pickett had done the same thing would we be having this conversation ?.I assume we are all grown here. If someone offered you a job in California for 3.5 million, how many of you would not take it. There is not much loyalty these days in our everyday life. If the Coach left for more money would he be called selfish? Pitt gave this young man an opportunity and in return he gave us exceptional play. From what I’m seeing in print, the only selfishness I can see, are the ones who feel like he did something wrong.… Read more »
