Pitt has already locked in a wide array of three- and four-star visitors over the month of June, and Pitt has added another strong three-star recruit to the visit list at the end of June.

2023 three-star linebacker Jalen Smith from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia officially announced his official visit to Pitt via Twitter Thursday night — also announcing an official visit to Tennessee.

“Coach (Ryan) Manalac has been in consistent contact with me since he offered me back in June, and that really stood out to me,” Smith told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Also, I feel like he will help me develop to be the best player.”

Smith, who holds offers from Akron, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Boston College, Buffalo, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, Duke, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Jackson State, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas, UCF, USC, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia, is a very in-demand recruit.

With official Pitt and Tennessee visits lined up already, he’s already visited Texas, Miami, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke, Tennessee, LSU and UCF this spring. Pitt will have a few days over the weekend of June 24, likely his last official visit, to stand out even further.

“I hope to see the city, as well as the great things within the program,” Smith said. “I think they stand out because they share a facility with the Steelers, and I think that will make it to one of my ultimate goals.”

As a junior at Grayson, Smith racked up a team-leading (by far) 173 tackles (107 solo), 14.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two passes defended and a forced fumble and recovery. As a 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker capable of playing inside and outside, he’s a versatile piece capable of doing it all.

While 247Sports still hasn’t rated Smith yet, Rivals has him as the 29th-ranked outside linebacker and the 46th-ranked recruit from Georgia — with a 5.7 Rivals Rating. On3 rates him as the 470th-ranked recruit in the class (45th-ranked linebacker and 46th-ranked recruit from Georgia).

Smith told PSN that while he doesn’t have an official date picked up for announcing his commitment, he plans to announce it at some point in June after making all of his official visits.

Pitt’s 2023 recruiting class includes four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey (Hendersonville, Tennessee) and three-star wide receiver Zion Fowler (Jersey City, New Jersey), and the class will only grow in the next weeks and months.
