Over the past few years, the biggest storylines in college athletics have revolved around the rise of the transfer portal as well as the entire Name, Image, and Likeness saga.
Recently, the two have been mentioned together as this offseason, many people around certain programs have created “NIL collectives” that are made to provide the players at those schools with financial opportunities. However, as we have seen this offseason in both college basketball and football, these collectives have dipped into the recruiting world and have been directly involved with the recruiting process.
To learn more about the state of recruiting involving NIL, Pittsburgh Sports Now’s George Michalowski caught up with ESPN’s Jay Bilas, who has been one of the most critical voices around the current state of college athletics.
“The coach knows the players that they want, they know what it’s going to take, they talk with the collective, and the collective does the leg work,” Bilas told PSN.
