Pitt Lands PWO Commitment from 2022 Florida WR Isaiah Nesmith

When Isaiah Nesmith committed to Rutgers as a preferred walk-on in January, the tall wide receiver added a strong commitment from outside the state. After a visit to Pittsburgh over the spring and continued recruitment from former Rutgers coach Tiquan Underwood, he decommitted earlier this month.

Nesmith, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, committed to Pitt Friday, rejoining Underwood as a PWO.

Nesmith, playing alongside Pitt’s 2023 wide receiver target Santana Fleming, recorded 13 receptions for 114 yards and three touchdowns in an offense that wasn’t exactly adept at pushing the ball downfield.

With a big body and solid connection with Underwood already, Nesmith is a solid pickup that provides depth at wide receiver and will have every chance to continue to grow into his large frame.

Pitt has landed land a handful of local recruits as preferred walk-ons since the 2021 season ended, including Belle Vernon’s Devin Whitlock, Chartiers Valley’s Abe Ibrahim, Kiski Area’s Brock Wilkins, Central Catholic’s Josh Altsman, athlete Lorenzo Jenkins (Beaver Falls, Pa.). And New Jersey CB Matthew Amofa, Florida OL/DL Thomas Aden and Texas LB Drew Foster from outside the state.

Pitt’s 2023 recruiting class includes four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey (Hendersonville, Tennessee) and three-star wide receiver Zion Fowler (Jersey City, New Jersey), and the class will only grow in the next weeks and months.
