Rodney Gallagher has made a change in his recruiting decision.
Originally, the 4-star wide receiver from Laurel Highlands High School planned on making his college decision on July 4 but that’s being moved up.
Gallagher announced on Sunday that he will instead announce his much-anticipated decision this coming Wednesday, May 25.
He released this statement on Twitter.
“After thoughtful consideration with my family, I’ve decided to move my commitment date up to May 25 which is this Wednesday. It will be at 3 PM at Laurel Highlands HS in the gym and all the public may attend. Hope to see everyone there and I’m very excited to announce where my destination will be.”
Prior to this announcement today, Gallagher was planning to take official visits to West Virginia (June 3-5), Notre Dame (June 10-12), Oklahoma State (June 13-15) and Penn State (June 17-19).
Gallagher has previously made unofficial visits to West Virginia, Notre Dame and Penn State but never visited Oklahoma State. So, in all likelihood, Gallagher will be deciding between West Virginia, Notre and Penn State with the Mountaineers the rumored favorite.
Gallagher is not only one of the top recruits in Pennsylvania but is recognized by all national recruiting services as a Top 100 junior in the nation. 247Sports currently ranks Gallagher as the No. 97 junior in the nation, while Rivals has Gallagher at No. 106.
WVU? How’d they sneak past Pitt, PSU, ND?
WVU has seen minimal success under Neil Brown.
Is NIL $$$ involved here?
Dont get the attraction to Morgantown?
Any thoughts Mike you’re willing to share?
WVU doesn’t sound right since they are first on his official visit list. Wouldn’t RG want to first take that visit since it’s scheduled for just 1-week after his decision date? Especially so as it’s been a while since he’s taken unofficial visits. As a result of Pitt also having received an unofficial visit, perhaps it should not be assumed that the Panthers are out of the running. Stay tuned…
Pitt was never in it….
He’s 25 minutes from Morgantown
Laurel Highlands is in northern West Virginia and it would surprise me that WV can out bid PS in NIL dollars. Nice to have him but the cupboard is relatively full at Pitt.
the cupboard can never be too full
Why wasn’t Pitt ever in the conversations?? Makes no sense…
Spend some time in Uniontown, you’ll understand. WV supporters hate Pitt, Uniontown is in WV’s sphere of influence ergo, he’s off to find Russell Shell.
Add him to the list of WPIAL kids never heard from again after HS.
