Former Pitt F Mo Gueye Works Out with Memphis Grizzlies

Published

On Tuesday, former Pitt forward Mo Gueye worked out for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, he told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

The 6-foot-11 forward had previously also scheduled to work out with the Toronto Raptors on May 26 but told PSN that the workout with the Raptors was cancelled. He then confirmed that he showed off his talents in a workout with the Grizzlies on Tuesday, adding that it went well.

Gueye, who transferred in from Stony Brook last offseason, impressed many around the Pitt program all of last season with his athleticism, shooting ability, and dominant shot-blocking ability at 6-foot-11. As a graduate transfer, he averaged 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in a Panther uniform.

Gueye finished his lone season in Pittsburgh with 312 total points converting on 43 of his 118 three-point attempts, a 36% rate. He also swatted away at least three shots in 11 games for the Panthers.

The NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 23.

Wish Capel would have started with a zone last year a la Syracuse. The guards were so horrible playing man to man that Mo was caught cleaning up their mess time and again. Wish him all the success possible.
