With an unofficial visit to Pittsburgh just last week, ahead of naming Pitt to his top contenders, 2023 three-star linebacker Jordan Bass has scheduled his official Pitt visit.

Bass (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) narrowed down an offer sheet of Boston College, Duke, East Carolina, Kent State, Liberty, North Carolina, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Virginia Tech to a Top 5 of Pitt, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Boston College.

And with an official visit scheduled to Pitt for June 16-18, the first scheduled by Bass, he’s given Pitt a big boost in his recruiting chase.

With visits to Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Clemson, Penn State and South Carolina since the beginning of the year, along with Pitt, Bass has made unofficial visits to a handful of his top contenders, and now his official visit list will likely determine where the versatile safety/linebacker will play his next four years.

A first-team All-State defensive back at Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia, in the three games listed on MaxPreps, he caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown on offense and recorded 19 tackles (12 solo), an interception returned for a touchdown, a passes defense and a forced fumble and recovery.

247Sports rates Bass as the 37th-ranked linebacker and the 11th-ranked recruit from Virginia while Rivals rates him as the 18th-ranked recruit from Virginia. On3’s consensus ranking rates him as the 587th-ranked recruit in the class (54th-ranked linebacker and the 14th-ranked recruit from Virginia).

As a big, strong athlete, Bass would be able to flit between either outside linebacker spot — particularly the Star spot — and traditional safety in Pitt’s system.

Along with Bass, three-star tight end Zachary Ortwerth (Saint Louis, Missouri), three-star athlete Rasheem Biles (Pickerington, Ohio), three-star athlete Kahlil Ali (Pennsauken, New Jersey), three-star defensive back Kaleb Cost (Fayetteville, Georgia), three-star offensive lineman Michael Crounse (Hyattsville, Maryland), four-star defensive back Braeden Marshall (Lake Mary, Florida) and four-star defensive end Desmond Umeozulu (Springdale, Maryland) will be making June 16-18 visits to Pitt.

Pitt’s 2023 recruiting class includes four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey (Hendersonville, Tennessee) and three-star wide receiver Zion Fowler (Jersey City, New Jersey), and the class will only grow in the next weeks and months.
