2024 three-star quarterback Alex Erby (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) from Steelton-Highspire High School in Steelton, Pennsylvania has scheduled an unofficial visit to Pitt for next Sunday. Erby recently received his offer from Pitt on May 18 from offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, Jr. Along with Pitt, Erby holds offers from Nebraska, Maryland, Temple, Minnesota, Louisville, Duke, UConn, Bowling Green and Akron.

“The reason I’m coming up to Pitt is because I’m looking forward to seeing how the coaches teach and coach their guys and just to meet the whole coaching staff,” Erby told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I want to get my family down there in order to build a relationship with the coaches and to get familiar with the campus for sure. Also, I just feel like this can be a possible home and with them being an in-state college, I really want them to be at the top of my list because it’s easy for my parents and family to travel.

“My relationship with Pitt has been really good. The coaches have been reaching out weekly to check up on me and my family and making sure I’m doing good and stuff like that. Coach DiBiaso and I have really been building a relationship. He is definitely doing his thing with recruiting me and they’re definitely the top one on my list.”

Erby’s family holds an existing relationship with Pitt as Alex’s uncle, Richard Utley, was a former track runner at Pitt.

Last season at Steelton-Highspire, Ebry threw for over 3,000 yards and 42 touchdowns.
