One day after Pittsburgh Sports Now reported that 2023 prospect Papa Kante will be visiting Pitt on June 28, PSN has learned that head coach Jeff Capel is out watching Kante play for South Kent school in a high-school event.
Pitt offered Kante back in February 2021, and has sent associate HC Tim O’Toole to watch him play previously as well.
Kante is a 6-foot-10 forward who is ranked among the top-120 prospects in the nation by 247 Sports. Pitt is involved in a jam-packed recruitment for Kante, as he recently took a visit to Michigan this past weekend. He also told Dushawn London of 247 that he is being recruited hard by Maryland, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and the Wolverines.
PSN also heard that Pitt is watching Elmarko Jackson, Kante’s teammate, who is a four-star guard in the 2023 class. Last night, the Panthers took a look at Ty-Laur Johnson, another guard that they have been prioritizing.
Pitt currently has two commitments in the 2023 class, with Carlton Carrington (6-4 CG) and Marlon Barnes (6-6 SF).
Go Jeff…..the momentum is building and the swagger is coming back to PITT!
Yes sir, I am hyped!!
