Pitt women’s basketball announced that they added Nick DiPillo as an assistant coach Tuesday afternoon.

DiPillo joins Panthers head coach Lance White’s staff with a plethora of experience in the women’s game, college and professional. He most recently spent time as head coach of the women’s team at Division III University of Scranton from 2019-22. While there, he amassed an overall record of 58-8 and a record of 32-3 in the Landmark Conference.

This past season, DiPillo led his team to a 27-3 overall record, a perfect 14-0 record in the Landmark Conference and an appearance in the Sweet 16. DiPillo brought Scranton to three straight Landmark Conference Championships and made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

DiPillo spent five seasons on the Seton Hall Women’s Basketball staff from 2014-19. While there, he worked as Director of Player Development from 2014-17 and then worked as assistant coach from 2017-19. Over that time, the Pirates made two NCAA Tournament appearances, won their first Big East Conference Championship in 2015 and two appearances in the NIT.

Before Seton Hall, DiPillo worked at the Monroe Sports Center in Monroe, N.J. as a skills trainer and camp director from 2010-14.

DiPillo served as an assistant coach for the New York Liberty in the WNBA from 2005-09 and as an advance scout in 2004-05. During his time with the Liberty, DiPillo helped the team make the WNBA playoffs four times and the WNBA Conference Finals in the 2008 season.

He started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Division III Kean University in 2003. DiPillo helped the team to a 34-19 record and won the ECA Metro Championship in 2005.

DiPillo also played college basketball at Fairleigh Dickinson and graduated in 2003.
