Former Pitt WBB Assistant Coach Josh Petersen Heads to Miami (Fla.)

Former Pitt women’s basketball assistant coach Josh Petersen earned a new assistant coaching spot at ACC foe, Miami (Fla.) the school announced Friday.

Petersen spent four years as assistant coach with the Panthers. His duties mainly included working with post-players, particularly during games and also as recruiting coordinator.

His work with the post players helped improve Pitt from the worst rebounding team in the ACC to near the top when he departed. Pitt ranked No. 1 in the ACC in combined team rebounds, averaging 43.9 a game in the 2021-22 season.

Petersen joins the staff of Hurricanes coach, Katie Meier. Meier is entering her 18th season as head coach of the Hurricanes and is coming off a record of 21-13 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Pitt added head coach of Division III Scranton women’s basketball team, Nick DiPillo, to their staff on Tuesday in replace of Petersen.Β
