Pitt Commit Kenny Minchey Officially Named to the 2022 Elite 11

If it wasn’t clear that Pitt commit Kenny Minchey is one of the best quarterbacks in the class of 2023, it should be abundantly clear now that he’s officially been named to the 2022 Elite 11.

The Elite 11 quarterback competition is the nation’s premier event for high school quarterbacks, and Minchey did enough at the Nashville Regionals to earn an invite to the finals. With a strong week out in Los Angeles at the finals, competing with the best of the best, Minchey stood out and earned his place in the 2022 Elite 11.

Minchey, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound four-star quarterback from Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee, won the Elite 11 Pro Day with a score of 44, he put together a strong sixth-place finish in the Mega-Target challenge and he impressed with his poise, accuracy and arm strength during drills all week.

Minchey finished the Nashville Regional with the fourth-highest combine score of the day, putting up a stellar 102.33 rating. He also put together a great 9-throw Pro Day showing, finishing tied for eighth with a score of 19.

And with a 160 score in the B/A Ball Score (a drill designed to test a quarterback’s average velocity and average release time), he finished tied for 10th in the BreakAway station — with an average velocity of 47.3 miles per hour and a .42 second average release time.

The 2022 Elite 11 was determined by junior season film and event evaluation and traits shown at the finals this week.

As a junior, Minchey threw for 3,280 yards and 32 touchdowns to just nine interceptions on 215-of-351 passing attempts. And with his commitment ironed out, he’s already locked in to improving those numbers as a senior and preparing for the jump to the NCAA.

A four-star recruit in the class of 2023, ESPN and On3 both rate Minchey highly. 247Sports holds him as a four-star composite and Rivals views him as a three-star. With a strong performance and official Elite 11 status, Minchey should continue to rise up evaluator’s boards.

Former Pitt quarterbacks to qualify for the Elite 11 include Ricky Town (2014), Max Browne (2012), Chad Voytik (2011), Tom Savage (2008), Tyler Palko (2001), but only Voytik and Palko did so as Pitt commits.

Does this mean he was named to Elite 11, and the other Pitt QBs were only qualifiers for the Elite 11 but not named to the Elite 11?
