The Pitt football program continues to recruit well in the state of Ohio, in particular recruiting offensive lineman.
This afternoon, three-star Ohio offensive tackle Phillip Daniels (6’5”, 272-pounds) made the announcement this afternoon to commit to the Pitt Panthers.
The interesting angle to all of this is that Daniels becomes the third offensive lineman in Pitt’s Class of 2023 and the fourth overall recruit from Ohio.
Phillip Daniels — Cincinnati, Ohio.
Colin Van Rooy — Strongsville, Ohio.
Ryan Carretta — Columbus, Ohio.
Rasheem Biles — Pickerington, Ohio.
Keep in mind that Pitt’s top recruit from last season was four-star offensive tackle Ryan Baer from Eastlake, Ohio.
This also continues Pitt’s recruiting in Ohio over the last four seasons. Daniels becomes the 10th recruit Pitt has secured from Ohio in the last four recruiting classes. That number ties Pennsylvania for the second most recruits over that timeline, trailing only behind Florida (13).
It should be pointed out that Pitt’s lead recruiters in Ohio are Randy Bates, Archie Collins and recently Ryan Manalac.
