Brashear High School’s Ta’Mere Robinson Has Committed to Penn State

Published

on

On Friday evening, Ta’Mere Robinson, a four-star athlete out of Brashear High School, made his commitment to Penn State. Robinson chose Penn State after late charges from ACC rivals Miami and Virginia Tech.

Robinson is the second linebacker to pledge his commitment to Penn State in as many days as on Thursday, Tony Rojas, another four-star linebacker.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Robinson had 28 offers and was considered the best prospect in Pennsylvania before he tore his ACL and MCL in October. He is currently the number three recruit in Pennsylvania, the number 13 edge rusher in the country, and the No. 137 player nationally.

Scouts are intrigued about what position he will play at Penn State because he has lined up at linebacker, edge rusher, safety, and slot corner for Brashear. Scouts love his agility, athleticism, and a nose for the football. Robinson is a sure tackler that always gets ball carriers on the ground as he closes in on ball carriers. He can rush the passer just as well as he can set the edge in the run game.

When I look at the tape on Robinson, there is one player that sticks out to me on who he compares to, and that is another great Penn State linebacker, LaVar Arrington ironically from the Pittsburgh area. Robinson’s rehab and recovery is reportedly doing well and is ready to prove once again that he is one of the best defenders in Pennsylvania.

Robinson will join Lamont Payne, J’ven Williams, Jameial Lyons, Joey Schlaffer, Yazeed Haynes, and London Mongomery for in-state commits for the Class of 2023.

Best news for Pitt. Not in our conference, disappears into the woods of central Pennsylvania, not to be heard from again

The kid is still having pain from his knee injury – he cant even run yet. Cant predict these rehabs – the kid may never play at a high level even when pain-free

If you have a crystal ball, why didn’t JoePa offer Aaron Donald?
Nothing is a certainty going from high to the pros.

I understand how people can be upset when we lose our top local talent to other schools (especially when those schools are PSU & WVU). I think we need to take a different mindset. Even schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State lose local blue chip kids to another school. (If you think you’re frustrated, imagine being a fan of a school in FL or CA and seeing everyone from all over the country pluck your kids away) Some kids just want to get away, some kids want a city atmosphere, and some want a traditional campus. Some kids want… Read more »

Alabama, Georgia and OSU recruit 5 star kids from all over the country. If they lose a local kid it’s because there is a better one in the other 49 states. Pitt isn’t in the same world and they can’t lose local blue chips.

Pitt does fine with their 3&4 stars. Why is PSU continuing to suck these past few years with great recruiting classes? Do you like watching Will Levis turning himself into a first rd pick at Kentuckyy?

Oh Steve, Pickett gave Pitt one good year. Relax. If Pitt was in the BigTen East they would be Rutgers. Three 11 win seasons since 2016 and a BigTen title. 5* all over the field, 107k and playoffs coming

Good for Will Levis, strong arm with zero accuracy.

With the talent they get there is no way they should be 11-11 there only one school with maybe more talent in big 10 … but maybe rating are not all that 🧐 or is it coaching

So as a college football guru you are saying historically Pitt is not better than Maryland or Indiana? You are wrong about that. If in the Big 10 East they would be middle of the pack. OSU, Michigan and PSU have been proven to be better. Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers and in some seasons MSU are not better than Pitt. Once again you are not a Pitt fan. You are here to defecate on the people that are real fans. Always remember no matter how successful PSU is on the gridiron they will always be known for Sandusky walking the sidelines… Read more »

Its not that Levis is thriving. It’s that Franklin couldnt see the talent. Have fun in 2022 with Clifford. It doesnt matter if you get great recruits – if the staff cant translate the talent to challenge the Wolverines and Buckeyes, does it matter? Trolling a Pitt site…sad but not surprising.

Wonder what his NIL deal is? We have a larger endowment and they have a larger football budget.
The last non state school to win the football national championship was USC in the early 2000s. Coincidence?

So if Harvard wanted another National Championship it would involve just endowment and alumni contributions? Seems ludicrous. Watch Miracle on Ice story for Hockey. NHL AllStar squad got beat badly by USSR. Great Coaching and Team players with Chemistry made the difference in their Olympic match-up. I hope this guy in the article goes an makes an impact like LaVar did there. At the same time I hope some of the guys PITT have verbals from make entertaining football like we had last Season and like the ones in 16’ (42-39).

If the local kids think they’re too good to play for Pitt than screw ’em. Just keep recruiting the Sunshine State and the team will be fine. Florida 3* kids are almost always more athletic than 4* WPIAL talent…H2P.
