Pitt junior pitcher Billy Corcoran signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday.

Corcoran is coming off his best season as a pitcher, finishing with a 7-5 record and a 4.43 ERA. Corcoran led the ACC with the least walks allowed with just eight this season. He finished in eighth place in innings pitched at 85.1 and also in wins with seven. He ranked fifth in the NCAA with a 8.62 strikeout-to-walk ratio and third with 0.84 walks allowed in nine innings.

Corcoran earned ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 25, after his performance against Miami on April 24. Against the Hurricanes he struck out eight batters and only gave up one walk and one run in eight innings.

The Texas Rangers drafted Corcoran out of high school in the 36th round, but he chose to go to Pitt instead.

Corcoran ended his time at Pitt with a record of 11-13, 160 strikeouts and a 4.24 in 189 innings.

The Seattle Mariners drafted fellow Pitt junior, catcher Tatem Levins, in the eighth round on Monday, making Corcoran the second to join an MLB team.
