Months after playing his last game in a Pitt uniform, former grad transfer Mo Gueye has found a new stop in his basketball career.

On Sunday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the former Pitt forward Gueye will sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a training camp deal to compete for one of the team’s final roster spots.

Gueye 6-foot-11 stretch forward, transferred to Pitt from Stony Brook prior to last season. In his lone year with the Panthers, he averaged 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, impressing with his athleticism, shooting ability, and shot-blocking skills. He wrapped up his Panther career with 312 total points and 43 three pointers. Gueye also blocked at least three shots in 11 games for the Panthers.

Gueye worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies prior to this year’s NBA Draft, but went undrafted and did not compete in NBA Summer League. As reported by Charania, he will be competing against former Colorado standout McKinley Wright IV who played last season for the Minnesota Timberwolves and their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. Wright averaged over 19 points and seven assists per game at the G League level and played in just five games with the NBA squad.
