Pitt Volleyball is going into the 2022 season ranked No. 6 in the Preseason AVCA Coaches Poll, which released on Monday.
The Panthers are coming off their most successful season in program history, as they finished 30-4 overall, 15-3 in ACC play and made it to the Final Four in Columbus. It is the first time the Panthers made the Final Four, which ended in a heartbreaking loss to Nebraska in four sets.
Louisville rank higher than Pitt in the ACC at No. 3, thanks to their first place finish in the ACC last season and a Final Four appearance. The only other ranked ACC team is Georgia Tech at No. 9. Miami (Fla.) and Florida State were the only other ACC schools to receive votes.
Pitt opens up their 2022 season with a Blue-Gold exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Fitzgerald Field House, before their season begins on Friday, Aug. 26 against San Diego at the Texas A&M Invitational.
