Class of 2024 outfielder Julian Irizarry committed to play for Pitt Baseball on Tuesday, announcing it on his Twitter.

Irizarry plays for Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He starred most recently this summer in the Selective Baseball showcase, as they named him one of the top 10 standouts of the classes of 2023 and 2024.

He sets up to become a great leadoff left-handed hitter at the collegiate level, who manages to stay on top of the ball and drive it well. Aiding him in this role is his blistering speed, as he ran the 60-yard dash in 6.61 seconds. That speed also makes him a good defensive, outfielder, allowing him to run down balls faster than his counterparts.

His development over the rest of his high school career should allow him to fill this role when he makes it to Pitt. Irizarry also has solid power-hitting ability, helped by his above-average bat speed. If he improves on his power hitting, he could become one of the most dangerous hitters in the ACC.

Pitt baseball recently got a commitment from another class of 2024 player in infielder Nick Slogik earlier this month.
