Pitt women’s basketball released their non-conference schedule for the 2022-23 season on Friday. This marks the fifth season that head coach, Lance White, serves as head coach.
Pitt starts the season away at Coppin State on Nov. 7. They defeated the Eagles, 67-51 at homee in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
The Panthers return home to a three game slate facing off, which starts off with George Mason on Nov. 12. Pitt faced off against George Mason in 2020 for just the second meeting between the teams, where Pitt won 72-57. They then take on Bryant on Nov. 16 in just the second meeting between each other, as Pitt won the matchup in 2016.
Pitt then play against Duquesne on Nov. 19 in the City Game, making it the 40th edition of the rivalry. Pitt defeated Duquesne last season in a close game at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, 69-64.
Then Pitt travels to play in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. The Panthers face off against Towson on Nov. 25, Maryland on Nov. 26 and then DePaul on Nov. 27 to cap off the tournament.
Pitt currently holds records of 5-0 against Towson, 1-9 against Maryland and 4-9 vs. DePaul. The matchup against DePaul is the first since 2013, when Pitt left the Big East for the ACC.
The Panthers then finish the rest of the schedule with four games at home, starting off with the ACC/B1G Challenge against Illinois on Nov. 30.
They then take on Loyola (M.D.) on Dec. 7, Ball State on Dec. 11 and North Alabama on Dec. 20 or Dec. 21.
The matchup against the Greyhounds is the first since 2016 for the Panthers, who hold a 7-0 record against them. The Panthers defeated the Cardinals last season on the road, 64-54, in their fourth meeting. The meeting against the Lions is the first between the two schools, as they only recently moved up to Division I for the 2018-19 season.
