On Thursday, one of Pitt basketball’s top recruiting priorities in the class of 2025 will be in Pittsburgh checking out the Panthers on the gridiron for the Backyard Brawl.

Alier Maluk, a 6-foot-10 forward who plays for Imani Christian (WPIAL 1A), told WVSportsNow that he will be in attendance for the big game.

Maluk has taken unofficial visits to both Pitt and West Virginia in the month of August, and holds offers from both programs. In addition to those two, he also has offers from LSU, Auburn, NC State, Seton Hall, and Texas A&M.

Maluk’s length, athleticism, and ever-expanding skill set has separated him as a high-major prospect early on in his high-school career. He told Pittsburgh Sports Now that his mid-range fadeaway and his defensive ability are his two best skills on the court.

Pitt will also host top senior guard prospect Ty-Laur Johnson for an official visit beginning on Thursday with the game.

The Panthers and the Mountaineers will kick off at 7 p.m. at Acrisure Stadium.
