2022 3-Star LB Jordan Bass Commits to Pitt

Published

on

While it may be just minutes until the Backyard Brawl finally resumes at Acrisure Stadium, Pitt’s recruiting efforts continue around the clock. Jordan Bass is the latest recruiting win.

Bass, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete from Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia, committed to Pitt over offers from Boston College, Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Duke, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Bowling Green, JMU, Kent State, Liberty, Norfolk State, Old Dominion and William & Mary.

It was a busy summer for Bass, who made official visits to Pitt and Virginia Tech, and he was recruited heavily by Virginia, North Carolina and Boston College.

As a big, rangy safety — who’s already bulked up to a sizeable 200 pounds ahead of his senior season — at Phoebus, Bass helped lead the Phantoms to a VHSL Class 3 state championship in 2021.

However, with his blend of size, speed and versatility in the secondary, he’s a tailor-made fit to slide into Pitt’s linebacking corps as an outside linebacker — either Star or Money.

247Sports rates Bass as the 472nd-ranked recruit in the class (42nd-ranked linebacker and the eighth-ranked recruit from Virginia) while On3 rates him as the 629th-ranked recruit in the class (32nd-ranked linebacker and the 10th-ranked recruit from Virginia). Rivals rates him as the 24th-ranked recruit from Virginia.

With commitments from three-star linebackers Rasheem Biles (East Pickerington, Ohio) and Braylan Lovelace (Leechburg, Pennsylvania), Bass gives Pitt three versatile linebackers for the future.
