Gateway’s Dominant Defense Taking WPIAL By Storm Early in The Season

Gateway is led by Brad Burch on offense and a host of athletes in defense, who is led by a host of athletes on defense which has played some of the best defense in the WPIAL.

The Gators held the defending state champion Mt. Lebanon Leopards to just six points in their opener and shut out Woodland Hills last night to get off to a two a 2-0 start to open the season.

The Gators, who are led by Chris Livsey, who got a pick-six to seal the 21-0 victory on Friday night. Another player who plays a part is Dallas Harper, who also recorded an interception in Friday’s game.

PSN spoke to Livsey after Friday’s game about the play to talked about knowing their assignments on defense and playing disciplined football.

“We just got know our assignments know your man, stick to the package, and execute,” Livsey said. “We have been doing that the past two games and nothing seems to be stopping us at this point.”

As for Birch he scored two rushing touchdown Friday, but he had a up and down evening passing the ball on a feisty Woodland Hills defense, However, Birch praised the defense when he spoke to PSN after Friday’s game.

“Definitely, give it to the defense, it was a defensive win for Gateway today. Offense not so much because if I get everything down, we’ll be fine.”

The Gators will look to continue their dominant efforts on defense when they take on North Hills on Friday night.
