Pitt Jumps to 14th in Latest Coaches Poll

The AP Poll didn’t move Pitt following a win against West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl, but college coaches took notice.

Pitt jumped from No. 16 in the preseason poll to No. 14 in the country, a modest two spot rise following a 1-0 start to the season.

Pitt received 624 points from the USA Today Sports AFCA Board of Coaches, which includes head coach Pat Narduzzi, and is ranked as the third-highest ACC team in the country.

Clemson (1,380 points) stuck at the No. 4 spot in the poll, and North Carolina State (642 points) remained at No. 13 despite a near loss against East Carolina.

Miami (591 points) at No. 16 and Wake Forest (353 points) at No. 21 round out the ACC squads in the Top 25.

Alabama (1,615 points and 57 first place votes) remains the top-ranked team in the country following a 55-0 shutout of Utah State, and Georgia (1,542 points, six first place votes) jumped Ohio State (1,520 points, two first place votes) after both teams defeated Top 10 teams in Oregon and Notre Dame, respectively. Michigan (1,333 points) rounds out the Top 5.
