Twitter Reaction to Pitt’s Loss to Tennessee

Published

on

The oddsmakers installed Tennessee as a 6 point favorite over Pitt, despite the Panthers being higher ranked and the Vols being on the road.

Vegas was right as Tennessee left Acrisure Stadium with a 34-27 OT win.

The story of the game was Pitt squandering a number of scoring opportunities and leaving at least 12 points on the field.

The other factor in todays defeat was poor play by the Pitt offensive lineman. Pitt quarterbacks were under constant pressure and starter Kedon Slovis didn’t return in the second half due to get injured on a sack.

Pitt (1-1) returns to action next Saturday as they’re on the road at Western Michigan.

I was also under the impression that the offensive line returning was supposed to be a strength this year for this team but they have yet to show any proof of that notion thus far. Don’t know what the final stats will show, but the calls were very one-sided with the majority of the calls going for Tennessee. Still, we had our chances and did not capitalize on the opportunities.

This game was decided by our field goal kicker who missed two chip shot field goals. But we also had both of our QB’s injured and Patti was gimpy for most of the second half. That said, the defense played very well, except for the one corner who kept getting burned for first downs and touchdowns. Hope we can find a more qualified corner because that last Tennessee TD was once again, poorly covered by this corner. Despite all that we took it to overtime in large part due to the rugged plays our defense made to neutralize the Tennessee… Read more »
