Vuk’s Week 2 Top 25 Rankings

Published

on

Week 2 of college didn’t disappoint as the weekend was filled with down to the wire matchups and some major upsets.

Exciting matchups and upsets this week included No. 1 Alabama squeaking by Texas 20-19, Marshall over No. 8 Notre Dame 26-21, Appalachian State upsets No. 6 Texas A&M 17-14, No. 19 Wisconsin loses to Washington State 17-14, Texas Tech defeats No. 25 Houston 33-30 in OT, Kansas with a road win over West Virginia 55-42 in OT, No. Kentucky over No. 12 Florida 26-16 and No. 21 BYU beats No. 9 26-20 in OT.

Every Sunday during this college football season, I will be posting my own Top 25 rankings and we’ll see where they stack up against the other national outlets. My rankings will be based on what I see on the field combined with the competition teams have played.

As always, I encourage your comments on these rankings and what you think I got right and what I messed up.

VUK’S TOP 25 COLLEGE FOOTBALL RAKINGS (WEEK TWO):

1) Alabama- It wasn’t a dominant performance, but I won’t penalize a team for going on the road (Texas) and finding a way to win.
2) Georgia- If I were to unseat Bama, it would be with the defending champs but I’m not at that point yet.
3) Ohio State- This team won’t be challenged until Week 6 at Michigan State and I’m not sure that will be a challenge. So much talent on both sides of the ball.
4) Clemson- Clemson’s season will be decided by their quarterback. One more cupcake until they take on Wake Forest and NC State.
5) Michigan- Jim Harbaugh names J.J. McCarthy the Wolverines starting QB following their 56-10 win over Hawaii.
6) Oklahoma State
7) Oklahoma
8) USC
9) Utah
10) Miami, Fla.
11) Arkansas
12) Michigan State
13) Kentucky
14) Wake Forest
15) Baylor
16) Notre Dame
17) BYU
18) Texas A&M
19) Tennessee
20) NC State
21) PITT
22) Florida
23) Texas
24) Penn State
25) Cincinnati
