Pitt Unveils Uniform for First Road Game Against Western Michigan

Published

on

Pitt is hitting the road for the first away matchup of the season, and with a trip to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take on Western Michigan, it’s just the second all-time meeting between the two schools.

But after last season’s meeting, a 44-41 upset at what-was-then Heinz Field, the second meeting has a bit of added importance for both schools.

Pitt will bring out the first away uniform of the season, gold helmets, white jerseys and blue pants, as modeled by Calijah Kancey.

Western Michigan has jumped out to a 1-1 start this season, losing to Michigan State on the road to open the season before knocking off Ball State on the road the week after. Pitt will serve as WMU’s home opener this season.

Former WPIAL star Jack Salopek will get the start at quarterback for WMU, and while he lost another former WPIAL star in Skyy Moore to the NFL Draft, he still has Corey Crooms — who torched Pitt’s defense last season.

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Western Michigan’s Waldo Stadium. For those not making the trek, ESPNU will broadcast the game. The crew of Clay Matvick (play-by-play), Rocky Boiman (analyst) and Dawn Davenport (reporter) will announce the game.
