Pitt is finishing off its non-conference schedule against Rhode Island with a classic look. It’s back to the basics.
There were will be gold helmets, blue jerseys and gold pants, as modeled by Carter Warren, for the Pitt-Rhode Island matchup this Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.
It’s the very first meeting between Pitt and Rhode Island on the football field, but there is some history that transcends the teams and players on the field at Acrisure Saturday. Pat Narduzzi graduated from Rhode Island in 1990, after spending three seasons as a starting linebacker in the RI defense.
Pitt has played Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) members 14 times, most recently last season in a 77-7 rout of New Hampshire at what-was-then Heinz Field, and Pitt is 14-0 all-time against CAA opponents.
Rhode Island is ranked 20th in the FCS Top-25 poll, coming off a loss to No. 8 Delaware, but the Rams are one of the better programs in the FCS.
Pitt and Rhode Island are scheduled to kick off at Acrisure at noon on Saturday, with the ACC Network broadcasting the game. Wes Durham (PxP), Roddy Jones (analyst) and Taylor Davis (reporter) will be on the call.
