Pitt TE Gavin Bartholomew Heads to the Locker Room with Shoulder Injury

Published

on

Pitt sophomore tight end Gavin Bartholomew headed to the locker room during the second quarter in the game against Rhode Island on Saturday.

Bartholomew held his arm as he left for the locker room, but the TV broadcast on the ACC Network said that it appears to be a shoulder injury.

He had one catch in the game for three yards against the Rams before leaving the game. On the season, he has seven catches for 130 yards and one touchdown. That one touchdown served as one of the most exciting plays of the season for Pitt, a 57-yard catch that came after he jumped one of Tennessee’s players. For his efforts, he earned Mackey Award honors for the Tight End of the Week.

Junior redshirt tight ends Kyi Wright and Karter Johnson will play in place of his absence against URI.

Bartholomew came out in the second half on the sideline and appeared with his arm in a sling.

The law of averages has hit Pitt big time. After the last couple of years of relatively injury free seasons, this one has produced nine starters (Sauls) with time loss. And we haven’t entered conference play.
