Pitt Will ’Roc the Royal’ Against Georgia Tech This Weekend

Published

It’s the start of ACC play this weekend against Georgia Tech, and Pitt will be roc-ing the first all-blue uniform of the season.

Pitt will “Roc the Royal” Saturday night at Acrisure Stadium, wearing blue helmets, blue jerseys and blue pants, as modeled by John Morgan.

Pitt is coming off a 45-24 win over Rhode Island to close non-conference play with a 3-1 record while Georgia Tech is coming off a 27-10 loss to UCF to close an opening slate that featured Clemson and Ole Miss with a 1-3 record.

Pitt is 11-3 all-time against Georgia Tech, dating back to an original 1918 matchup. Pitt won the first five matchups between 1918-76. Georgia Tech won back-to-back meetings in 2013-14, but Pitt has won six of seven matchups since then.

That includes four straight wins for Pitt, including a 52-21 win in Atlanta, Georgia last season in which Kenny Pickett’s 389 yards and four touchdowns established his Heisman Trophy campaign.

It’s been a tough season for Georgia Tech, one in which head coach Geoff Collins has been fired following a 10-28 tenure, and the Yellow Jackets are currently 1-3 on the season.

Georgia Tech is currently 3-1 against the spread this season while Pitt is 1-3.

Kick off at Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. Those not in attendance will be able to watch the ACC Network broadcast, with Wes Durham (PxP), Roddy Jones (analyst) and Taylor Davis (reporter) on the call for the second week in a row.

Need a blue alternate helmet. Also need more GOLD options for fans/students/alum. Why does every Pittsburgh team suck at marketing???
