BETHEL PARK, Pa. — In a non-section Class-5A matchup, Bethel Park put on a dominant defensive display and Ryan Petras scored two touchdowns as Bethel Park defeated Penn Hills by the score of 28-7 on Friday night in their homecoming game.

Late In the first quarter, Bethel Park (5-1) struck first on a one-yard touchdown run by Petras on a drive that took eight plays and 50 yards.

On the next Penn Hills (3-3) drive, Bethel Park forced a three and out and a punt. Owen Williams got his punt blocked by Clancy Orie and recovered by Dinari Clacks at the Penn Hills 13-yard line. On Bethel Park’s next play from scrimmage, Gavin Moul scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to put the Black Hawks 14-0.

Bethel Park went and try to score again before halftime, but Tanner Pfeuffer’s pass was intercepted by Raion Strader at the 30-yard line. However, Penn Hills didn’t capitalize on the opportunity because they ran out of time before the half when they elected to run a play instead of trying a field goal.

On Bethel Park’s first drive of the third quarter, Petras ripped off a 48-yard run to set himself up on the next play when he scored a 14-yard rushing touchdown to give Bethel Park a 21-0 lead.

Early on in the fourth quarter, Pfeuffer extended the Black Hawks lead to 28-0 on a one-yard touchdown run on a drive that saw the Black Hawks wear down the Indians’ defense.

Penn Hills finally got on the board with four minutes left in the game when Amir Keys scored on a four-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 28-7.

The Black Hawks defense held Penn Hills quarterback Julian Duggar in check all night long, never letting the dual-threat quarterback get into a rhythm in the air or on the ground until the game was well out of reach. Duggar had two snaps go over his head Friday night, one of which was recovered by Bethel Park.

Penn Hills will travel to Fox Chapel next Friday Night, while Bethel Park will Travel to Upper St Clair next Friday night.
