Pitt junior running back Israel Abanikanda did not return to the game for the start of the second half against Georgia Tech.
Abanikanda rushed 10 times for 31 yards in the first half, with his longest rush at 12 yards, as Pitt failed to create good rhythm offensively.
Running backs in senior Vincent Davis and redshirt senior C’Bo Flemister will share the touches in his absence. Davis currently leads the team with nine rushes for 55 yards early on in the second half, while Flemister rushed twice for four yards.
Abanikanda’s absence is a big one for the Panthers, as he is coming off 464 rushing yards in the past three games. For his efforts he earned ACC Running Back of the Week twice, against Tennessee in Week 2 and Rhode Island in Week 4.Â
The ACC Network broadcast showed Abanikanda in a sling in the beginning of the fourth quarter, meaning he will not return to tonight’s game.
No one else on the offense did either.
This is a throwback performance to the days of Paul Chryst when they’d lose to the worst team on the schedule bynot showing up.o
S.O.P. ….
Let me know if Slovis decides to ever show up.
when will the draft eligible players start opting out to prepare for draft?
Of course he was going to get injured at some point. Heavy workload and no O-Line
Great job Cig
