PITTSBURGH — There will be a few key players either returning to the lineup or returning to full health as Pitt opens ACC play against Georgia Tech tonight at Acrisure Stadium.
Jared Wayne hasn’t played the last six quarters of football for Pitt, but he is back in the lineup tonight to complete Pitt’s opening day starting wide receiver trio. Wayne leads Pitt with 265 yards and a touchdown on 13 receptions through two and a half games this season. Gavin Bartholomew, who left the Rhode Island game and returned to the sideline with his arm in a sling, has also returned to the starting lineup.
Jake Kradel and Blake Zubovic have returned to their starting center and right guard spots, respectively, as was the case against Western Michigan and URI. And Carter Warren, whose absence in the lineup against URI allowed Branson Taylor to take 40 snaps, has been replaced in the lineup by Taylor at left tackle.
Deslin Alexandre has also returned to the lineup for the first time since the season opener against West Virginia. He’s joined outside by Habakkuk Baldonado, who also missed the URI game, and David Green and Calijah Kancey inside.
M.J. Devonshire is once again starting at cornerback, and he’s joined by Marquis Williams — who missed the second half of the Western Michigan game and the entire URI game.
Cignetti is a terrible OC.
