Pitt LBs SirVocea Dennis Didn’t Return to Sideline for Second Half

PITTSBURGH — Pitt senior linebacker SirVocea Dennis didn’t return to the sideline or to play in the second half against Virginia Tech.

Dennis led the Panthers in tackles in the first half, making six total and four solo. This also included an important sack at the end of the first half on Hokies redshirt junior quarterback Grant Wells.

His sack forced Virginia Tech out of field goal range and led to Wells throwing a Hail Mary pass that Panthers redshirt senior Marquis Williams intercepted.

Without Dennis playing, Pitt is thin at the mike linebacker position, with senior Brandon George out as well, with no playing time since Rhode Island two weeks ago.

Expect to see redshirt senior linebacker Shayne Simon move to fill Dennis’ role. Also redshirt sophomore Solomon DeShields will likely play the money linebacker in Simon’s place.

God bless him,in 50 years this is worst coached team in Pitt history. Some just had no talent, but these SUPERSTARS can’t beat BOTTOM feeders, play RHODE ISLAND 6 times a year, build some stats.

I agree to disagree with you, but we are about to see two long standing records get broken on the next possession hopefully!

Narduzzi was never comfortable with Whipple’s Air Mail offense. Remember he coached at MSU in the cold of November. Without Israel and the O-line, the game turns out differently. But the VT defense was so tired in the 4th quarter because of the pounding they took in the 1st half. That’s Big Ten football. That’s what he likes. Also kudos to Daniel Carter for his excellent blocking in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Two plays yesterday raised concern, the botched punt and the last VT TD. As it gets colder, van der Haar is going to have to understand that he has to keep his hands warm on the sidelines. Ball hit him in the hands. The TD pass was a direct result of excellent pass protection. The rushers were no closer to Wells after 5-6 seconds than at the snap. One final comment: This fixation on the Backyard Brawl has got to end. We have been playing catch up because of injuries sustained in that game. We are in the ACC not… Read more »
