The Duquesne Women’s Basketball Team was picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll as voted on by the conference’s 15 coaches and revealed Tuesday.

Duquesne also received two preseason honors, first with sophomore guard Tess Myers being named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Third Team. Myers, averaged 12.7 points per-game and also buried 90 three-point shots, which far and away led the conference.

“Tess is one of the premier three-point shooters in Division One,” Duquesne coach Dan Burt said in a university-issued press release. “Her game has greatly expanded over the summer, and we are excited to see Tess show her deeper range and expanded ball handling this season.”

Sophomore guard Meg McConnell also earned preseason recognition earning one of five All-Defensive team spots.

McConnell amassed 76 steals, three of the conference high.

“Meg led the A-10 in steals last year and we are excited to see what she will do within our defensive concepts,” said Burt. “She committed herself to the weight room this off-season and we are expecting very big things from her this season.”

Massachusetts earned all 15 first place votes, good for the maximum 225 points.

Below is all of the preseason recognition, again as voted on by the coaches. Duquesne begins its season Nov. 7 when it hosts Point Park.
