Louisville QB Cunningham Expected to Start Against Pitt Saturday

Published

on

Louisville redshirt senior quarterback Malik Cunningham is likely to start against Pitt in their matchup this Saturday, Oct. 22.

Cunningham missed last week’s game against Virginia, due to concussion-like symptoms. Louisville pulled off the victory without him, 34-17, in Charlottesville, Va.

He is currently back at practice and Cardinals head coach Scott Satterfield said that his practices are good so far and improving as the week progresses.

Cunningham is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks, not just in the ACC, but in the country as well. He is top in the ACC and ranked tied for fifth for quarterbacks with 6.4 rushing yards per carry.

He has run 71 times for 457 yards and nine touchdowns in five games 2022. The 91.4 rushing yards per game is third best in the ACC and the 457 rushing yards are fifth best.

Pitt travels to face Cunningham and Louisville at Cardinal Stadium this Saturday, primetime at 8 p.m. Pitt opens up as a one-point favorite over Louisville.

I caught a quarter or so of Alabama versus Auburn. I found it interesting that the Commentators mentioned that the very aggressive DEs for Alabama were told not to Rush deeper than the QB three step drop to keep him in the pocket / contained.

If we use that approach on Cunningham (or if we would have done that against Sims from GaTech) that might be useful as he is excellent scrambler.

containment will be key. i think he is better than sims. this one may come down to who scores last. H2P !
