Pitt 2024 4-Star Commit DT Jahsear Whittington Attending Penn State Whiteout Game

Published

Penn State’s Whiteout Game this Saturday vs. Minnesota will attract hundreds of national, highly ranked recruits.

The guest list will also include a player currently committed to Pitt.

Philadelphia 2024 4-star defensive tackle Jahsear Whittington announced on Twitter that he’ll be at Beaver Stadium Saturday night.

Since giving an early commitment to Pitt, Whittington has been an active supporter of Pitt on Twitter and repeatedly has stated and restated that he’s committed to Charlie Partridge, Pat Narduzzi and Pitt. Whittington was in Pittsburgh just a few weeks ago for a GameDay unofficial visit.

However, he is still a junior and Penn State is clearly a place that intrigued him since this is the second time this season that Whittington has been in State College for an unofficial visit.

And let’s be honest, the Whiteout is a nationally talked about event that will attract hundreds of recruits, many of which are probably friends of Whittington from the Philadelphia area.

When looking at this development, you can take either the glass half full or glass half empty look.

Maybe he wants to watch the game to root for them to lose, like I do.

The situation is not as cut and dried as you make it out to be. PSU might as well stand for Perpetual State of Underachievement, anymore. Who really wants to sign up for that no matter how many fans they have?

Many 4 and 5* players, as evident by their recruiting classes. pitt likes the 3*, unrated players they can coach up

He’s Penn State bound. Better conference, 107k fans every home game, better program

But 75K of those are WVU fans. Not a better program, can’t beat a ranked team.

WVU fans? What an awful attempt here. Be better.

PSU has been the better program. They have an a beautiful on campus stadium and it is not in a city environment. That is not debatable. Pitt turns out better pro players and he would have a chance to get on the field quicker at Pitt. Those things may matter more to him. The Big 10 Outside of Michigan and Ohio St. is not very good. There is a huge drop off from those teams down to PSU, Illinois and Minnesota this year. With that being said I still have no clue why you waste your time on a site… Read more »

ACC outside of Clemson is never good and a huge drop to the next levels. Syracuse is having a “pitt year” and will be back to below average next year.
pitt turns out better pro players? That’s funny. Give me your Aaron Donald argument. Micah Parsons is best defensive player in the league.

Please review the Pitt players in the Pros history….Marino or Kerry Collins, Tony Dorsett or Curtis Martin versus Franco, Curt Warner, etc., Larry Fitzgerald over any PSU receiver, we can on and on….just check the NFL Hall of Fame. It is that simple. Aaron Donald will be in the Hall, too. Parsons is a great player currently. He is one injury away or a gun shot blast to the brain from being dead or career ended. Keep that in mind. He may never make it to the Hall. The ACC traditionally has had FSU and Miami that have great seasons… Read more »

Marino over Kerry I’ll give you even though both won the same amount of Super Bowls (if Marino laid off the blow he might have won one). Dorsett for sure but I’ll take Lydell Mitchell, Lenny Moore or Curt Warner over Curtis Martin. IFitzgerald is one for sure but PSU has put a long list of WR in the NFL. LB and OL is all PSU
We can go on and on about one off NFL players. Penn State is the better program. Did Duzz know at MSU, hmmm? Nassar’s crimes were as bad or much worse.

I never debated PSU being better. I just said Pitt produces pro players and a top notch player would get on the field quicker at Pitt. If a prospective recruit wants to play in a power 5 school with good coaches, the Steelers right next door and a proven pipeline to the pros Pitt is a good school to pick. Kerry Collins was dreadful btw. Comparing him to Marino is bad. Even a PSU Kool aid guy like you has to see that.

“Nassar’s crimes were as bad or much worse”. Seriously? Your in the minority on this one pal. Child molestation is about as bad a crime as it gets, imo. Multiple cases happening over several years, unbelievable. Worst scandal in college sports history…Sports Illustrated’s words, not just mine.

Yes, MSU was child abuse with many more victims

My apologies, did some reading and was reminded how young some of Nassar’s victims were..so yeah, as bad as Sandusky scandal was, this one may have been worse.
FYI, didn’t come across anything about Duzz knowing…hmmm.

Just checked NFL website per your suggestion…Pitt currently tied for fourth with Michigan. Only Ohio State, USC and Notre Dame have more former players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame…not to shabby.

Thank you for validating my point! If you put the best all time Pitt player at each position on the field as a team they would be very formidable. Marino, Dorsett, Fitzgerald, Revis, May, Covert, Ditka, Grimm, Jackson etc. I would take these guys against any school.

PS has excellent facilities BUT it’s in the middle of nowhere. So does Pitt. 17 and 18-years old kids want to experience the world outside of their home town. That’s what Pitt has to offer and the focus on improving the players lives is a big draw for parents.
I matriculated there a long time ago with my older brother on campus. Still as soon as I got the letter from Pitt that was my choice.

True, some kids want a true college town, others want an inner city feel. I guess the Pitt band recruited a bit better

If Jashear wants to make an NFL roster, then he should be coming to Pitt for one reason: Charlie Partridge.

Why not go to a game for free. Some kids don’t get a chance to experience a whole lot of different things.

Worked for WR Hykeem Williams from Florida, got to trot to several Schools on their nickel. Why not. Outside of Texas A&M NIL money, UGA recent performance was FSU or Miami anyone’s real guess where he would go. PITT was due to Jordan Addison’s success. Having seen the changeover to power run game not a chance.
