Pitt will kick off the second half of its season by traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to matchup against Louisville at Cardinal Stadium.
In true road game fashion, Pitt will wear gold helmets with a blue stripe, white jerseys and gold pants, as modeled by Brandon Hill. Pitt and Louisville will kick off at 8 p.m. — the first of two 8 p.m. road games on the schedule over the next two weeks.
Louisville has experienced an up-and-down start to its own 2022 season, missing quarterback Malik Cunningham at times, with a 3-3 start — 1-3 in the ACC.
Aside from a Week 1 loss to a surprise Syracuse team, Louisville’s losses have come by four points against Syracuse and one point against Boston College. The Cards have picked up wins over USF, UCF and Virginia.
Pitt is 10-8 all-time against Louisville, dating back to a 27-6 win in the first meeting in 1976. It’s been a series of runs all-time. Pitt won the first four meetings, Louisville won the next seven meetings between 1990-2007 and Pitt has won six of the last seven.
Pitt won the most recent matchup 23-20 in 2020, a performance in which Kenny Pickett threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns and the defense forced three Cunningham interceptions.
For those not making the trip to Louisville, the game will be available on ACC Network in primetime. The broadcast crew features Dave O’Brien (play-by-play), Tim Hasselback (analyst) and Kelsey Riggs (reporter).
