LOUISVILLE — Konata Mumpfield was labeled as a game-time decision by Pat Narduzzi on Thursday, and as he made the trip and dressed for pregame warm-ups, it’s safe to say Mumpfield is back.
Mumpfield was a surprise scratch against Georgia Tech, after he came out for warm-ups in sweats and did not participate, but after a week off, Mumpfield is returning to the starting lineup.
With a team-high 24 catches for 257 yards and a touchdown, Mumpfield hasn’t exactly been the dynamic threat many expected upon his transfer from Akron, but he’s been a key cog in the offense. With a healthy return to the lineup, Mumpfield could help unlock the deep ball with Kedon Slovis.
Jaylon Barden, who inexplicably didn’t dress against Georgia Tech, also made the trip to Louisville and dressed. It’s likely that Barden will see the field against the Cardinals — another deep threat, perhaps the fastest wide receiver in the room.
With Jared Wayne, Bub Means, Mumpfield and Barden, the quartet will be relied upon to help Pitt’s passing attack open up and push the football downfield.
Myles Alston, Gavin Thomson and Peter Vardzel also made the trip for Pitt.
How is Slovis supposed to see the field and make decisions when Cignetti makes him drop from under center so often.
They can’t seem to do anything right. Look like a bunch of clowns out there.
Or when the o line can’t keep anyone off of him ?
by dropping back and going through progressions, which Slovis can’t do
