“…I want like to thank everyone at the University of Pittsburgh for their time and effort recruiting me,” Zipperer said in his statement on Twitter. “I am thankful for the relationships I have built with the coaches and players….After long talks with my family I’ve decided that it’s best for me to decommit from the University of Pittsburgh.”

The announcement of his decommitment comes just one month to the date that he committed to the Panthers. The three-star wideout was also the most recent commitment in the class of 2023.

Zipperer made an official visit to Utah recently, something that drew attention that he might not be 100% committed to Pitt.

With Zipperer’s departure from the class of 2023, there is still a triplet of wide receivers in the class. This includes Pennsylvania native in Kenny Johnson from Dallastown Area, New Jersey Native in Zion Fowler from St. Peter’s Prep and Florida native in Lamar Seymore from Miami Central.

There are still 18 committed players in Pitt’s class of 2023, headlined by four-star quarterback Kenny Minchey.

It should be noted that Zipperer recently took an official visit to Utah.

Let’s be honest, he is probably the first domino to fall. Canada should be available in a couple months to go back to a college offense that isn’t 1985 IUP.

Cignetti was one of the worst OC hires in Narduzzi’s tenure. This isn’t the 1970’s where you can win games 7-6. All the rules promote the passing game today. Pitt always talks about getting people to come watch and getting better recruits . Wins and exciting offense bring people to the program right now. I think the old saying that offense sells tickets and defense wins championships has some merit still. This decommit is the first of many I’m afraid. Narduzzi should get out of his own way and find a modern OC that makes football exciting and fun. Also,… Read more »

Narduzzi needs to make the move on Cignetti now.

Too early to worry about this one. Sure, he may not be the last decommit but other schools will find themselves in the same situation. Underwood seems to be a great recruiter. Although, season to date, I haven’t seen the receivers/recruits excel on the field.

Just the first here…Recruits talk, and the product on the field this year is bad. Next will be worse as Michey will eventually feel the pull of the big boys (hard to turn down ND). Yarnell is a good backup, but do you really think he’s a full time starter? Roster will be very different next year.

It’s Very sad watching this unfold. I’ve been a Pitt fan for over 50 years, and I thought we finally were coming back to the glory days. Then this middle school offense was put in by a very bad new OC. Very few good WRs will come, so I hope our new WR coach is really good at developing them.
I guess I’ll have to wait another 50 years. H2P!!!

This isn’t news nor a surprise. We’ll never hear his name again…
