PITTSBURGH — On Friday, Pitt basketball hosted an open practice for members of the media as well as the Oakland Zoo.

Pittsburgh Sports Now was in attendance for the practice and recorded several observations from the press box.

Jamarius Burton – DNP – Root Canal (Not expected to miss any more time)

John Hugley – DNP – Leg

William Jeffress – DNP – Foot

Notes

Blake Hinson continued to shoot the ball well from outside throughout practice. The Ole Miss transfer, who scored 20 points in Pitt’s recent exhibition, hit outside shots from nearly all sides of the court.

Sophomore Nate Santos also worked with the wings and guards and showed off some shooting confidence, calmly hitting with defenders in his face.

Associate head coach Tim O’Toole worked with the bigs, bringing physicality to drills with Guillermo and Jorge Diaz-Graham as well as Federiko Federiko.

Nike Sibande showed no signs of slowing down and created off the dribble in numerous five-on-five drills. Pulled up for threes at the top of the key several times confidently.

Head coach Jeff Capel tested Hinson at the end of practice, throwing him on the free-throw line several times in a row with the entire team watching. Hinson hit two of his four free-throw attempts, prompting a team-wide run to the other baseline.
