2023 3-Star OL Colin Van Rooy De-Commits From Pitt

Prior to tonight’s kickoff, Pitt’s Class of 2023 is minus one member.

3-Star offensive lineman Colin Van Rooy announced on Twitter that he was opening back up his recruitment.

“I am announcing my decommitment from the University of Pittsburgh. My recruitment has now reopened.”

The 6’5″, 300-pound offensive tackle from Strongsville, Ohio was part of a wave of offensive lineman commitments back on June 26.

Van Rooy’s announced his quick commitment to Pitt following receiving an offer after a strong performance at a prospects camp on June 15.

Along with Pitt, Van Rooy’s offer list includes Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Maine.

Pitt’s current recruiting class now has 17 members, including four offensive linemen- BJ Williams (Fairburn, Georgia), Phillip Daniels (6’5″, 272) Tai Ray (6’6″, 280) and Ryan Carretta (6’5″, 318).

PSU won their whiteout game. The one with 110k fans.
has pitt locked the gates yet with their 20k fans in the Steelers stadium?

I’m a Pitt guy and always will be. But let’s be honest, do you blame the kid for not wanting to play in this offense? There will be quite a few transfers as well. But since you mentioned PSU, they wouldn’t tolerate this, at Pitt it’s tolerated and nobody is held accountable as long as there’s “stability.”

This isn’t a knock on the kid. However, we have 4 other lineman commits and he doesn’t have one other power 5 offer.

Either he just got a pocket offer from another Power 5 or he’s choosing the MAC/Lehigh over pitt….wow

Or he decided that he felt like he had a better chance to play early on.

Not sure it’s a big loss. We were the only power 5 offer.

Why can’t the negative PSU fans stay off this site! Pitt is bad this year, but at least we have our integrity, unlike PSU.

Got that right! No matter what, PSU will never have integrity & should just shut up & be happy they still have a football program!

why wouldn’t they have a program (top 20)? No integrity is offering an OL then pulling the offer.

Considering his list of other offers, I wouldn’t get your panties in a bunch especialy since there are still four other ofeensive lineman in the class.
