PITTSBURGH — With a matchup against No. 20 Syracuse at Acrisure Stadium Saturday afternoon, Pitt had the chance to start the back end of the season with a 19-9 win.
Offensively, Pitt did what they’ve done well all season and that’s run the football. Rodney Hammond filled in for an injured Israel Abanikanda Hammond rushed the ball 28 times for 124 yards.
But the story of the day was Pitt’s defense as they held Syracuse to 145 total yards and recorded 6 sacks.
Pitt is now 5-4 and one game away from being bowl eligible.
