Pat Narduzzi Issues Statement On Arrest of Dayon Hayes

Published

Prior to the start of his weekly press conference, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi reacted to the overnight news of the arrest of Dayon Hayes.

The junior defensive end was arrested on Sunday and charged with simple assault of girlfriend.

Here is the statement that was released by Narduzzi:

“The incident involving Dayon Hayes is incredibly disappointing and concerning. I take all disciplinary matters very seriously, and that is especially the case with situations of this kind. Our players know they are accountable for their actions, both on and off the field. I’ve conveyed this to Dayon, who will be immediately subject to team disciplinary measures in addition to any legal consequences that may arise. The details of that discipline will remain a private matter.”

The 21-year-old Hayes will have a preliminary hearing on November 22 at 12:30 PM at Pittsburgh Municipal Court.

Penn State would suspend him for the months of February, March, April and May.

Is this the same Dayon Hayes you said was out for the season? Couldn’t be you had a reliable source?

Actually, that was reported on multiple sites including SI. The fact that he returned to play a few weeks ago and nobody noticed might tell you something though.
