On Tuesday night, Jacob Polacheck of The Portal Report reported that Duquesne freshman Devin Carney will redshirt this season and since then, Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that report.

Duquesne has enough depth in the backcourt and he can use this next year to work on his game and develop.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

Carney, a former WPIAL star at Butler, committed to Duquesne back in April. He was previously committed to Elon, but de-committed after head coach Mike Schrage left for an assistant position at Duke. As a senior at Butler, the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 25 points per game and finished his high school career with more than 2,000 points.

Duquesne opened its season with a dominant, 91-63 win over Montana on Tuesday. The Dukes, led by guard Dae Dae Grant, will now take on No. 4 Kentucky in Lexington on Friday night at 7 p.m.
