Offensive Line Remains Consistent Despite Drexel’s Return

Published

on

Gabe Houy, who battled back from an offseason achilles injury to make his first start last week against Syracuse, did not make the trip to Virginia.

Branson Taylor, who has started a couple of games this season in the wake of Carter Warren’s season-ending injury, and he returns the lineup after playing a reserve role last week against Syracuse.

Matt Goncalves has served as Pitt’s most consistent offensive tackle this season, and he and Taylor will once again bookend the offense line for Pitt.

Owen Drexel, who hasn’t played since picking up an injury in the fourth quarter against Tennessee, dressed last week, but he will return off the bench if at all this week against Virginia.

Jake Kradel has started every game that Drexel has missed at center, after starting the season at right guard, and he will remain in that center pivot role — with Blake Zubovic still occupying the right guard role.

Marcus Minor, the constant on the offensive line this season, will remain at right guard.
