SirVocea Dennis is a legitimate NFL Draft prospect, but NFL teams may need to begin considering him as a prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Dennis is a senior this season, in his third season as a starting linebacker and first as a team captain, but he can utilize his COVID season and return for one more year.
And with Saturday’s game against Duke serving as Senior Day, Dennis said that he will not be walking with the seniors.
“No, I didn’t do anything for the senior activities this year, so I leave it up to all the seniors,” Dennis said Tuesday at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
“I am still undecided (about next season). And I’m just focused on this year.”
Dennis leads Pitt with 74 tackles (31 solo) this season, and he’s added 9.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, three pass breakups and forced a fumble. According to Pro Football Focus, Dennis is the fourth-highest-graded linebacker in college football this season.
Dennis has recorded 29 pressures this season, an even more impressive feat as an inside linebacker, which is fifth-best among all linebackers in the country. And he’s missed just four tackles this season, with a low 6.0% missed tackle rate, on the way to 40 run stops. Even his play in coverage has grown this season.
In his career at Pitt, Dennis has racked up 212 tackles (108 solo), 33.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
A return from Dennis would be a major boost for a defense that will lose some key pieces on the defensive line and in the secondary next season.
A decision not to walk on Senior Day at the very least shows that Dennis is seriously considering a return to college football next season, but that could be subject to change at any time. Still, the potential for Dennis to return to Pitt is huge.
Awesome picture the article, #32 off to the left. He wore #32 before re-choosing #7.
The interception for TD is just a classic case “You don’t shovelPASS the SirVocea”.
Won’t be back, what more can he accomplish? 3 year starter, tons of tape and big rebuild at pitt next year.
Come on OCSP, that’s que for 1-Year eligibility Transfer Portal mode. Starting LB at UGA, Alabama next Year. I thought I knew you better than that Post. WTFN, eh?
great to hear from you SRS. He couldn’t start at Bama or UGA. If he stays in college I’m sure it’s Pitt but why would he. Lots of wear and tear on the body, might as well take a shot at the NFL now. What can he do next year to improve his draft standing? Maybe work on coverage? I’d say he’s gone.
He should go get paid by an NFL team. Preferably the team they share a facility with.
