Pitt Men’s Basketball Receives Generous Donation From Alum

Pitt men’s basketball received a generous gift from an alum of the university on Friday.

Chris Valasek and his family donated $1.25 million to the program that will go towards upgrading basketball facilities. Pitt, in honor of gift, named the newest premium space at the Petersen Events Center, the “Valasek Family Club.”

The Valasek Family Club is on the concourse level above the Campus View Club. Inside, there are 40 luxury stadium seats, an expansive lounge space that includes televisions with surround sound and accordion glass doors that open with a beautiful view of the court.

The space is a premium space during basketball games, but the university will also use it for special events and a place to meet on non-game days.

Chris Valasek is a 2005 alum of Pitt and is currently a director of security engineering at Cruise automation, as he has spent his life dedicated to computer security.

“My family and I are thrilled to make this commitment to Pitt Men’s Basketball,” said Chris Valasek in a press statement. “Some of my fondest memories from college came during basketball games at the Petersen Events Center. I am proud to support Coach Capel and our players as they represent our great University on the hardwood.”

Chris Valasek also gave a gift in 2016 to the men’s basketball program. He is a men’s basketball and football season ticket holder.
