PITTSBURGH — The Senior Day festivities at a cold, windy Acrisure Stadium were short and quick, with families quickly hurrying out onto the field to stand with their sons, and there are some notable names who did and didn’t walk.
The implications of who walks and who doesn’t aren’t set in stone, with players from either group able to change their minds at any time after the season, but we can still speculate based on who chose to be honored and who didn’t.
Those who walked:
- Judson Tallandier
- John MorganĀ
- Tylar Wiltz
- Nick Patti
- Derek Kyler
- Vincent Davis
- Erick Hallett
- Myles Canton
- Jake Kradel
- Marcus Minor
- Gabe HouyĀ
- Owen Drexel
- Dakota Peters
- Blake Zubovic
- Haba Baldonado
- Sam Scarton (Jr.)
- Chris Maloney
- Deslin Alexandre
- Carter WarrenĀ
Those who didn’t walk:
- Jared Wayne
- SirVocea Dennis
- Kedon Slovis
- A.J. Woods
- Brandon George
- David Green
- Marquis Williams
- C’Bo Flemister
- Shayne Simon
- Tyler Bentley
- Devin Danielson
We knew that Kedon Slovis and SirVocea Dennis weren’t going to be honored before the game against Duke, but a couple of other notable names also chose not to be honored.
Jared Wayne, Marquis Williams, Shayne Simon and Devin Danielson (and A.J. Woods and David Green at times) are all senior starters with the ability to return next season, and Pat Narduzzi has advocated for C’Bo Flemister to use his COVID season and return next season.
With just Miami left on the schedule, and then an undetermined bowl game in December, the decisions for Pitt’s senior class — with a majority able to return — will be decided in the near future.
If only we could get Cignetti to walk.
Williams, Baldonado, Morgan, Woods, Green, Wayne, Simon, Flemister, Bentley, Danielson, Dennis, George could greatly benefit from another year. Not one of them is a day one or day two pick as it currently stands. One more year. I also think Slovis has a big year if he returns.
