Twitter Reaction to Pitt’s 7th Win of the Season

Published

on

The formula today is similar to what it’s been the last few weeks: solid defense (until the last two drives) timely turnovers, slow and methodical offense but with ability to run the ball effectively.

It’s not exactly pleasing to watch but in the end, it enabled Pitt to beat Duke, 28-26, on Senior Day at Acrisure Stadium.

Pitt ups their record to 7-4 and they’ll wrap up the regular season next Saturday in Miami.

End of the season, all wins are ugly. Some uglier than others. But you know in 50-years, it’s still a win. End of the season 1972, record unblemished then we beat Boston College in the rain. My woolen uniform weighted 50-pounds. Next day the Pitt News declares us National Champs. We beat BC who beat someone else and progression got to NCs Texas and their single loss. Yeah it was ugly but uglier for Duke.

Mike last two years *if they win 9 this year. Last time I checked 10 + 9= 19. I get your point that it would be he second best year and the way this season has gone, I’d be pretty happy with it, but this would be the least satisfying 9 win season ever. Especially looking at what is coming down the line next year. This looks like a 6 win team next year at most if there aren’t major changes.

You’re right, wasn’t thinking of the conference championship win for some reason. My bad

Out of curiosity, other than Dennis and Slovis, we’re there any other players that could have participated in senior day activities but didn’t?

What would be the harm of starting Patti next week in Miami? He can’t play any worse then slovis who should have been replaced long ago. It has cost Pitt in recruiting plus a shot at the coastal. PN talks about it’s an everyday competition in practice apparently not when it comes to the QB position

If last year is any indication of next year the the QB position has a chance to be better. As far as recruiting goes it’s wide open at the wide out spots for anyone coming in and qb would at worst the competition would be open if not year 1 then year 2.
