Laurel Highlands star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher will be visiting Penn State this coming weekend. The four-star West Virginia commit announced on Twitter that he will be in attendance for the Nittany Lions’ game against Michigan State.

While a visit could just be that, this news comes as a surprise since Gallagher has been considered a hard commit to WVU since officially announcing his intentions to become a Mountaineer back in May.
“I’m still committed to West Virginia and it’s just in case anything happens with Brown,” explained Gallagher when we reached out following his tweet. He’s referring to the uncertainty surrounding the future of WVU head coach Neal Brown.
Even though several other WVU top commits have said they are still locked into going to West Virginia, there’s always the possibility things could change if a program fires its head coach and the staff the player was recruited by is no longer in place.
The Laurel Highlands High School product is widely considered one of the top seniors in Western Pennsylvania. He’s also the top ranked recruit of the Brown era at West Virginia and the sixth-highest rated recruit in WVU history, according to 247Sports. He’s listed at 5’10 and 160 pounds. Before committing to WVU, Gallagher received offers from over 20 schools, including the likes of Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon and more locally both Pitt and Penn State.
Gallagher has been honored as an All-American athlete and will be playing in the Under Armour All-American bowl in January.
He did attend a WVU home game just a few weeks ago. Gallagher tells PSN today that he has had no recent talks with Pitt.
He’s Penn State bound
$$$$$
I’m sure NIL opportunities are a reason, but money probably isn’t the only driving force. Neal Brown will be fired this year (or next) and WVU has had an awful year.
If it’s always about money as everyone says when a recruit leaves then pitt better get on board with todays NCAA landscape or get left behind.
I understand he has NFL ambitions and wants to play at WR. That dude would be excellent in a Speed Option offense at QB.
Like all the top recruits are doing now, going to go to the highest bidder!
Money always wins in the end!!!
If he’s going to the highest bidder that wouldn’t be PSU, or any school in the North. Miami, Texas A&M, USC, etc. will all pay much more.
Neal Brown will be fired at WVU, along with their awful record is most likely the main driver here. PSU is loaded with freshman talent and incoming 5 stars OL and 110k fans every week.
And the best Showers …
a lowbrow Sandusky comment that has nothing to do with these kids. stay classy. Doesnt change the fact that duzz can’t recruit
Duzz knew at MSU
…and they’ll still lose to Ohio Satae and Michigan.
OSU yes, they’ve beaten Michigan previously and will in the future. But fans in reality understand that. pitt fans think their team is relevant playing in the ACC and begging the Steelers to borrow their stadium on Saturdays.
back to 6-7 wins a year with a Pinstripe bowl after the Pickett/Addison days.
Hey, all of the fans that I associate with realize that we are supporting a mediocre program. In contrast, the Nitters that I know, who’s team hasn’t won a natty since Ronald Reagan was president and have never played in a college football playoff game, still believe that they are one of the blue blood programs along with the Alabamas, Georgia’s and OSUs of the college football world…talk about delusional!!!
They are a notch below Bama, GA, OSU (along with every other team) and if they don’t realize they are true homers. Consistent 10 win seasons and New Years Bowl Games are the goals now.

Not trying to put the kid down, wish him the best….his film screams OVERRATED to me!
what screams overrated to you in your scouting history?
5 ft 8 tops and 160 wet. Next please.
not his skill set then, just his height and weight. OK
Seeing these replies days late….but i just dont see “it” on his film…just my opinion, not hating on him, i’ve been right and wrong in the past about these “top recruits”
definitely an Inexact science, but he’s a 4* with 91 rating with some big offers (Michigan, ND and Oregon) so he must have something
